In a disturbing incident in the Meiran area of Lagos, a woman named Dorcas Oluwabukola has been apprehended by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly pouring hot water on her husband. The incident reportedly occurred due to suspicions of infidelity after the husband attended a childhood friend’s wedding without her.

This incident has raised concerns about domestic disputes and the repercussions of unchecked emotions within relationships.

On December 18, 2023, the Meiran division of the Lagos State Police received a distressing report of domestic violence involving Dorcas Oluwabukola and her husband.

The police promptly arrested Dorcas, and a source within the police department revealed that she would be transferred to the state Criminal Investigation Department upon the completion of the investigation.

The altercation between the couple unfolded when the husband attended a wedding without his wife, sparking anger and resentment.

The police source disclosed that the wife’s frustration escalated to the point where she allegedly poured hot water on her husband, causing significant harm.

The victim, identified as the husband, has been hospitalized since the incident, and the police are closely monitoring his recovery.

The police department assured the public that a thorough investigation would be conducted into the matter.

The severity of the alleged crime was emphasized by the police source, stating that pouring hot water intentionally on someone is considered a capital offense.

The wife was arrested immediately, and no option for bail was mentioned. The authorities are awaiting an appropriate time to transfer the case to the state Criminal Investigation Department for further legal proceedings.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). According to Hundeyin, the couple had initially planned to attend the wedding together, but the husband’s decision to go alone triggered the dispute.

The ensuing altercation resulted in the wife boiling water and allegedly pouring it on her husband.

As of the latest update, the victim is undergoing treatment at a healthcare facility. The police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, aiming to gather evidence and determine the appropriate legal actions against the accused wife.

The case of Dorcas Oluwabukola serves as a stark reminder of the potential consequences of unresolved conflicts within relationships.
