Israel’s military has initiated its most intense 24-hour bombing campaign since the start of the Israel-Hamas conflict two weeks ago, resulting in the deaths of 400 Palestinians, according to media sources in Gaza.

Residential areas in Gaza, including the heavily populated Jabalia refugee camp and locations near Gaza’s Al-Shifa and Al-Quds hospitals, were heavily bombarded by Israel.

Israel also escalated its raids in the occupied West Bank, resulting in the deaths of two Palestinians during a raid in Nablus. Israel’s Rear Admiral Hagari confirmed on Sunday night that one soldier was killed and three others were wounded during a failed attempt to rescue hostages in the Khan Younis area of Gaza.

The raid was launched as part of the efforts to rescue more than 200 hostages who were abducted in the October 7 Hamas attack. This attack also resulted in the deaths of over 1,400 people in Israel by gunmen from the terrorist group.

According to reports from Gazan news sources, more than 400 people were killed in Israeli airstrikes in the last 24 hours, which Palestinian media described as the most intense bombardment since the October 7 Hamas attack.

Gaza’s Health Ministry reported that 266 Palestinians, including 117 children, were killed by Israeli airstrikes in the past 24 hours in the area, which Israel has placed under a total siege after the deadly mass infiltration by Hamas gunmen into Israel.

Health authorities in Gaza have stated that a total of 4,600 people have been killed, and over a million of the 2.3 million residents of the densely populated enclave have been displaced. Earlier, Hamas claimed to have engaged in a battle with Israeli forces near Khan Younis in southern Gaza, destroying a tank and two bulldozers.

The IDF later confirmed the death of the soldier and the injuries of three others, stating that the casualties were caused by an anti-tank missile. “The military said, ‘An IDF (Israel Defense Forces) soldier was killed, one was moderately injured, and two were lightly injured as a result of an anti-tank missile launched toward an IDF tank and an engineering vehicle.'”
