Nigerians in major cities like Lagos and Abuja faced widespread power outages as the national electricity grid collapsed once again, confirmed by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) on December 11, 2023.

The outage plunged the entire country into darkness, with ongoing efforts to restore the national power grid, particularly in Abuja.

This incident, the second collapse since mid-September, follows recent discussions by the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, on collaboration between the federal and state governments to address challenges in the power sector.

Adelabu emphasized the importance of state governments in areas such as infrastructure enhancement, metering, bill collection, and rural electrification.

Plans for an inaugural ministerial retreat from December 12 to 14 were also announced to delve into extensive discussions on power sector issues.
